Matre, meaning mother in Sanskrit, and Moshi, a gentle “hello” in Japanese, come together as a quiet greeting: hello, mother.

The first 1,000 days of motherhood- from birth to toddlerhood - are filled with wonder, but also with relentless, often unseen effort. In those early years, it’s the smallest things that can make the biggest difference - a smoother morning, an easier change, a moment reclaimed.

Matremoshi was created to make life easier for moms. 

Founded by Shimoli Mehta Toshniwal - a toddler mom and former investor - whose search for better, more thoughtful products for herself and her child during the first 1000 days often came up short. The first 1000 days-from conception through age 2-are the most formative. Too often, she found herself looking beyond India for essentials that combined quality, functionality, and design. Matremoshi was born from that gap: a desire to build what she couldn't easily find.

We design life essentials for mama and baby's first 1000 days-thoughtful, incremental improvements that don't just look beautiful, but work intuitively to make motherhood easier. We begin with apparel for ages 0–2, crafted from our signature mosshmallow fabric-95% tencel modal-and reimagined with magnetic closures that replace traditional snaps, making dressing simpler, quicker, and gentler for both mother and child. And there's more to come-because the first 1000 days demand more than clothing alone.
